Will Google AI Mode replace normal Google Search?

Probably not in the sense of completely replacing normal Google Search.

The safest answer is that Google AI Mode is more likely to be added alongside traditional Search than to fully replace it. Google’s current direction appears to be a hybrid experience: AI-generated answers or AI Mode for some queries, while classic search results and specialized surfaces like Maps, Shopping, and Flights still matter for many tasks.

A full replacement seems unlikely for a few practical reasons:

• Different query types: AI is useful for summaries and complex questions, but regular links are still often better for navigational, local, and transactional searches.
• Web ecosystem: Google still needs to crawl the web and surface sites, so it has an incentive to keep standard search results.
