Probably not entirely. AI is more likely to change online course creation than fully replace course creators.

Creators who sell mostly generic, self-paced information are the most exposed. In fact, completion rates for self-paced online courses are historically low, so simply packaging information is already a weak model for many creators. AI can make that pressure stronger by helping people generate outlines, lessons, quizzes, translations, and basic support faster and cheaper.

Where human creators are likely to remain important is in the parts AI does not fully replace: personal lived experience, judgment, empathy, accountability, and community. Human-led coaching, live Q&A, and cohort-based learning can meaningfully improve engagement and completion because they add structure, feedback, and motivation beyond the course content itself.

So the short answer is: AI will probably weaken or replace some low-differentiation course offerings, but it is unlikely to replace all online course creators. The creators who adapt by using AI as a production tool and focusing on transformation, trust, and human support are most likely to stay valuable.
