Will AI replace jobs that are mostly emails and spreadsheets?

Probably not the first to be fully replaced, but the routine parts of your job are among the most exposed to AI.

If your work is mostly drafting standard emails, summarizing threads, cleaning spreadsheet data, making recurring reports, or sorting inboxes, AI can already help with a lot of that. In practice, though, what tends to happen first is automation of specific tasks, not instant replacement of the entire role.

The parts of the job that are usually safer are the ones that need judgment, context, handling messy exceptions, relationship management, and human accountability or sign-off.

So the real question is: are you mostly moving information around, or are you turning it into decisions and action? If it’s mostly the first, AI pressure is high. If it’s the second, you’re in a much better position.

Best move: learn to use AI on your own work so you become the person who uses the tools, not the one competing only on routine output.
