Will AI personal assistants replace apps?

• Complex apps will still need rich interfaces: Highly visual, creative, collaborative, or data-dense software—such as photo and video editors, advanced spreadsheets, design tools, and games—will likely remain standalone applications, even if they add AI features to speed up routine work.

So the most likely outcome is not that apps disappear, but that the experience becomes more intent-centric: you state your goal, and AI helps route the task to the right tool or service. How far this goes will depend on platform restrictions, API availability, and how quickly developers adapt their products for agent-based workflows.
