Scam emails can have spelling mistakes for a few reasons, but there isn’t one single explanation for all of them.

Sometimes the mistakes happen because the sender is careless, not fluent in the language, or using a poor translation. Other times, scammers may intentionally use odd spelling or character substitutions to make the message harder for spam filters to catch. And in some cases, the errors are part of the message’s design: a sloppy or rushed tone can make it seem like a routine, urgent notice rather than something suspicious.

That said, many scam emails are now quite polished, especially targeted phishing attempts. So spelling mistakes can be a red flag, but they are not enough by themselves to identify a scam.
