Why is my laptop fan so loud?

Your laptop fan is loud because the laptop is hot and the fan is trying to cool it down. The most common causes are:

• Blocked vents: Using it on a bed, couch, lap, or carpet can trap heat. Put it on a hard, flat surface.
• Heavy workload: Games, video editing, lots of tabs, or updates can push the CPU/GPU hard. Check Task Manager on Windows or Activity Monitor on Mac.
• Dust buildup: Dust and pet hair can clog vents and fans. Clean the vents with compressed air.
• Malware or background apps: Some apps or malware can keep the CPU busy even when you’re not doing much. Run a malware scan.
