Why does my dog lick the couch where I sit?

Your dog is probably licking the couch where you sit because it smells like you. Dogs are drawn to your sweat, skin oils, salt, and any tiny food crumbs left behind. Licking can also be a comfort behavior, since your scent helps them feel close to you.
