Why are cat trees so expensive in pet stores?

• They’re bulky and heavy. Cat trees take up a lot of space, so they cost more to ship, store, and display than smaller pet items.
• Physical stores have added business costs. Rent, staffing, utilities, and the limited space on the sales floor all affect the price customers pay.
• Store models are often positioned as more durable or premium. They may use thicker posts, heavier bases, denser carpet or sisal, and stronger construction to support larger cats.

That said, not every pet-store cat tree is better, and not every online one is cheap. Some online options are excellent value, while some in-store prices are high because of brand markup and the higher costs of running a retail location.
