To estimate a Pokémon card’s value, you need to identify the exact card and its condition. The biggest factors are: card name, set, card number, rarity, whether it’s holo/reverse holo/1st Edition/shadowless, language, and condition or grading.

Quick way to check:

1. Look at the bottom of the card for the set number, like “4/102” or “SV49/SV94.”
2. Check whether it has special labels such as “1st Edition,” “Promo,” “Staff,” or “Prerelease.”
3. Assess condition: damaged, played, lightly played, near mint, or graded.
4. Search sold listings—not asking prices—on eBay, TCGplayer, or PriceCharting using the exact card name + set number + variant.
5. If it’s potentially valuable, compare raw vs graded prices before paying for grading.

For example, “Charizard 4/102 Base Set holo” and “Charizard 4/102 Base Set 1st Edition shadowless holo” are very different cards with very different values.
