For most buyers, I’d choose the new ROG Ally if it’s from a reputable/authorized retailer and priced reasonably. The main reason is lower purchase risk: with a new device you’re less likely to deal with hidden battery wear, cosmetic damage, missing accessories, prior repairs, or uncertain return support.

I’d choose the used Steam Deck on eBay only if the price is clearly lower than current new/refurbished Steam Deck options and the listing is strong: clear photos, exact model/storage, confirmed working condition, good seller history, included charger/case, and a return policy.

Also check which ROG Ally you mean. The ROG Ally line has different models, and value can change a lot depending on whether it’s a base model, higher-end model, or discounted older stock. Don’t assume every “ROG Ally” is the same.

My default recommendation: buy the new ROG Ally for the safer purchase. Buy the used Steam Deck only if you specifically prefer SteamOS/the Steam Deck experience and the eBay deal is genuinely good after comparing it with Valve’s current new or refurbished prices.

Before deciding, compare: total price after tax/shipping, storage size, screen type, battery condition, return policy, seller reputation, included accessories, and the exact warranty/return terms for the ROG Ally.
