Should I buy a used Canon G7X Mark II or a new vlogging camera?

Buying a used Canon G7X Mark II can make sense if you specifically want a very compact camera and you find one at a good price. But for most creators today, a new vlogging camera is usually the better buy.

Choose a new vlogging camera if you want more modern autofocus, easier video features, and better connectivity for regular vlogging. Choose a used G7X Mark II only if you specifically want its pocketable size and you can get it at a price that still makes sense given its age and limitations.

A newer camera such as a Canon R50 or another current vlogging model will typically give you a larger sensor, newer autofocus, and more room to grow. The G7X Mark II can still be appealing for portability, but it is an older model, so I would avoid paying near-new-camera money for it unless the compact pocket-camera experience is exactly what you want.
