QUESTION
Should I buy a used Acura ZDX or Lexus RX?
Deciding between a used Acura ZDX and a used Lexus RX mostly comes down to which ZDX you mean and what matters most to you.
-
If you mean the original ZDX (about 2010–2013): the Lexus RX is usually the safer buy for most shoppers. The RX is the more practical choice, with a reputation for low-stress ownership and an easy-to-live-with luxury-SUV layout. The original ZDX is much rarer and more style-first, so it tends to make more sense if you want something distinctive rather than maximum everyday usefulness.
-
If you mean the newer ZDX (2024+): it is a fully electric SUV, so it only makes sense if you want an EV and are comfortable with charging. In that case, it competes less directly with the RX, since the RX is still a gas/hybrid-style luxury SUV depending on trim and model year.
Simple takeaway:
- Choose the Lexus RX if you want the most practical, comfortable, and traditionally dependable used luxury SUV.
- Choose the Acura ZDX if you want something rarer and more distinctive, or you specifically want the newer electric version.
My lean: for most used buyers, I’d lean Lexus RX unless you specifically want the ZDX’s styling or EV setup.
One important caveat: the ZDX name covers two very different vehicles, so make sure you’re comparing the exact model year and powertrain you’re shopping.
