Should I buy a projector instead of a TV?

Usually, buy a TV unless you specifically want a very large, cinematic screen and can control the light in the room.

A projector makes sense if:

• You’re okay with more setup, like external speakers and possibly a screen

A TV makes more sense if:

• You watch in a bright room or during the day
• You want plug-and-play convenience
• You care about gaming features and consistent picture quality without blackout curtains

A simple rule of thumb: for everyday viewing, pick a TV; for a home-theater feel, pick a projector.

One more thing: projectors can require more upkeep over time, and many don’t sound great on their own, so budget for audio too.
