QUESTION
Is the Kindle Scribe worth it if I mostly read PDFs?
Yes — but only if your PDF use is fairly simple. For mostly reading PDFs on an E Ink screen, the Kindle Scribe is usually worth about $250–$350 new and about $180–$280 used, depending on storage and whether the Premium Pen is included. If you only want comfortable, glare-free reading plus light highlighting or handwritten notes, it’s a solid fit. If you need advanced PDF tools, reflow, split-screen, or a more flexible research workflow, you’ll usually be happier with an iPad or Onyx Boox.
Best fit: large, easy-on-the-eyes PDF reading and basic markup.
Not a great fit: heavy academic PDFs, lots of zooming, complex annotations, or document organization.
One caveat: prices and PDF behavior can change, so check recent sold/completed listings and Amazon’s current support notes before buying.
