Is XBOX Game Pass worth it for casual gamers?

Xbox Game Pass can be highly worth it for casual gamers, but it depends entirely on your playing habits. If you love variety and want to try 5 to 10 different games a year without paying $30–$70 upfront for each, a subscription easily pays for itself. However, if you only play one or two games a year (such as Call of Duty or EA Sports FC), buying those games outright is much cheaper than maintaining an annual subscription.

For most casual console players, Xbox Game Pass Standard (~$14.99/month) is the sweet spot, offering online multiplayer and a massive catalog of hundreds of older games. Xbox Game Pass Core (~$9.99/month) is best if you just want online multiplayer and a tiny, curated list of about 25 games. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (~$19.99/month) is generally overkill for casual gamers, unless you do not own an Xbox console and want to stream games directly to a smartphone, tablet, or Smart TV via cloud gaming.
