Usually, yes—the Honda Odyssey is more vehicle than most families need for one child, but it can still be the right choice if you regularly carry grandparents, carpool kids, haul bulky gear, take road trips, or want the easiest possible child-seat access.

For one child and mostly daily driving, a compact or midsize SUV is often easier to park, cheaper to fuel, and still has plenty of space. But the Odyssey’s sliding doors, low step-in height, big cargo area, and roomy second row make parenting logistics very easy—especially with rear-facing car seats, strollers, dogs, sports gear, or frequent passengers.

Best practical take: don’t avoid it just because you have one child. Avoid it if you mostly drive solo, park in tight places, dislike large vehicles, or won’t use the extra seats and cargo space.
