Is formula feeding easier than breastfeeding?

Whether formula feeding or breastfeeding is “easier” depends on what kind of difficulty matters most to you.

Formula feeding can be easier for scheduling and for sharing feeding responsibilities with partners or other caregivers, but it also involves daily prep, bottle cleaning and sterilizing, and ongoing cost.

Breastfeeding can be easier in terms of convenience once it is established: milk is available immediately, doesn’t need to be mixed or warmed, and there’s no bottle prep at the moment of feeding. But it can involve a learning curve, may be physically demanding, and can be harder to hand off to others.

So the short answer is: formula feeding is often easier logistically, while breastfeeding can be easier in terms of on-demand convenience and cost. Many families use a combination of both if that works best for them.
