Yes—if your desk is dim, you work at night, or a regular desk lamp causes glare, a monitor light bar is usually worth it. Typical new prices are about $30–$60 for basic models, $60–$120 for better-brightness / higher-quality models, and $120+ for premium or smart models. Used/refurbished units are often about $20–$45 depending on brand and condition. If you’re deciding whether to buy, a solid value target is usually around $40–$80 new.

It is less worth it if your room already has good overhead or task lighting, your monitor has a very thick/curved/unusual top edge, or you mainly need decorative RGB lighting rather than useful desk illumination.

Best rule of thumb: buy one if you want cleaner desk lighting without taking up desk space; skip it if a normal adjustable desk lamp already works well for you. Prices change a lot by brand and sales, so check sold/completed listings before buying.
