AI has become a massive time-saver for product research, but it hasn't entirely replaced Google. Instead, the two tools serve different stages of your shopping journey.

AI is exceptional at the discovery and comparison phases. If you need to summarize hundreds of customer reviews, translate complex technical specs into plain English, or build a shortlist of products tailored to a highly specific scenario (like "best ergonomic chairs for a 5-foot-tall person working on carpet"), AI will give you an answer in seconds that might take an hour to compile via Google.

However, Google remains essential for the final buying steps. AI can sometimes struggle with real-time, highly localized information or hallucinate exact price points. Traditional search is still better for finding up-to-the-minute deals, verifying an obscure seller's credibility, checking local store inventory, or surfacing visually heavy content like unboxing videos and authentic Reddit discussions.

The most effective strategy is a hybrid approach: use AI to figure out exactly what to buy, and use Google or your preferred retailer to figure out where and when to buy it.
