If you’re buying used Pokémon DS games, I’d usually lean eBay for selection and buyer protection and local marketplace for in-person inspection.

  • eBay is often the better choice if you want the widest inventory and a clearer way to dispute an item if it arrives not as described.
  • Local marketplace is better if you want to inspect the cart before paying and test it in your console.

The big issue on both is counterfeits/reproductions, and Pokémon DS games are expensive enough that they’re a common target. On local listings, the upside is that you can look closely at the cartridge, compare the listing photos to what you see in person, and test it before you pay. On eBay, the upside is that you generally have more recourse if the item arrives fake or materially different from the listing.

My short take: buy on eBay if you want more protection and more options; buy locally if you’re confident judging authenticity and want hands-on checking before paying.

For either route, inspect the listing carefully, ask for clear photos of the front, back, and label, and compare the cartridge to official photos or trusted authenticity guides. When in doubt, pass on the deal.

One note: local marketplace policies vary by platform and seller, so don’t assume every local sale has the same return or protection options.
