QUESTION
Should I buy a 55-inch OLED or a 65-inch QLED TV?
The choice mostly comes down to room brightness, viewing distance, and whether you value size or picture quality more.
Choose the 65-inch QLED if:
- Your room is bright or gets a lot of daylight. QLED TVs are generally brighter, which helps cut through glare.
- You sit farther back and want the bigger screen for a more immersive feel.
- You watch a lot of sports, cable, or other mixed-use content in a well-lit room.
Choose the 55-inch OLED if:
- You watch movies or shows in a dark room. OLEDs are great for cinematic viewing because each pixel can turn off individually, giving you very deep blacks.
- Picture quality and contrast matter more to you than sheer screen size.
- You want wide viewing angles for seating off to the side.
My quick take: if this is for an average bright living room and you want the bigger, more versatile option, go with the 65-inch QLED. If it’s for a darker room and you care most about contrast and movie quality, go with the 55-inch OLED.
If you’re unsure, measure your seating distance and wall space first—the larger screen is usually the safer pick when both models are otherwise similar. Also, exact performance varies by model: many OLEDs have excellent off-angle viewing, and some modern QLEDs handle angles better than older ones.
