How many sensors will the MAARS System monitor?

The total number of sensors is really unlimited for a MAARS System, if you define a system as consisting of more than one MAARS Monitoring Unit (MMU). Multiple MMU’s are connected together via Ethernet, so the actual number of sensors in a system is really limited by the network bandwidth. In today’s networks with large bandwidth, there is no practical limit.

Instead, it is much more practical to discuss the number of sensors that individual MMU’s can input. Each MMU has a maximum of 16 or 32 data inputs. Models 2000, 3000 and 5000 are 16 data inputs, plus up to 3 tach inputs and two or four relay outputs. Models 4000 and 4010 have up to 32 data inputs and 3 or 6 tach inputs (6 if a second ADC is used). Four relay outputs are present on the motherboard, and an additional separate board consisting of up to 16 relay outputs may be piggy-backed onto the Model 4000/4010 MMU.

* Although 4 physical tach brick slots exist, only three may be used at any one time. This is due to the ADC having only three physical counter-timers.
